A bus driver has been arrested over a crash in which about 20 people, including children, were injured.
The collision, which involved a school bus and a lorry, happened on the A685 at Lowgill, Kendal, at about 08:25 BST.
Two people, the lorry driver and an adult on the bus, suffered serious injuries, but none of the children are reported to be badly hurt.
Cumbria police said the driver of the school bus was being questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving.
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust said it had sent five ambulances to the scene.
A spokesman for the trust said: "We are currently assessing the scene and working closely with other members of the emergency services.
"Our primary role is to assess the level and nature of injuries, and ensure that those people most in need are treated first and taken to hospital.
"At this stage, it is too early for us to confirm the number of casualties, but we believe this to be in the region of 20 people."
