A coach carrying 54 people has left the motorway and crashed down a ditch on the M5 southbound near Stroud, Gloucestershire.
The accident happened just before 10:00 BST close to junction 13.
A Highways Agency spokesman described the accident as "a serious incident" but with "walking injured". The extent of injuries not yet known.
The motorway has been closed southbound while the accident is investigated.
