Man dies after city stab attack

A man has been stabbed to death in a street in Sunderland.

Officers were called to Washington just after 03.40 GMT to reports that a man had been injured.

They found a 20-year-old man in Warkworth Close, Washington. He was taken to hospital but died shortly after arriving.

Northumbria Police have launched a murder investigation and asked for anyone with information to contact them.
